SAN FRANCISCO SHOWCASE HOUSE 2026
Bedroom: Double Standard, Room # 11
Double Standard explores the tension between inherited tradition and personal interpretation. Inspired by my dog-eared copy of The Official Preppy Handbook and its codes of style and structure, as well as the stylized world of the film Rushmore, this room reflects my ongoing fascination with heritage and how it evolves. I am drawn to the discipline of classic design but equally to the moment when those rules are reconsidered and made personal.
This room is how I see a classic boys’ bedroom growing up. These twin beds represent more than symmetry. They suggest two young men on the verge of independence, leaving home for college and stepping into their own point of view. It honors what they’ve grown up with, but it also makes room for who they’re becoming.

Jack + Jill Bathroom, Room # 12
When I first saw Josephine Munsey’s Whimsical Clumps, I didn’t see a bathroom. I saw atmosphere. The pattern feels painterly and alive, full of movement and quiet humor. Munsey, a UK designer, hand-draws her patterns from years of personal sketchbooks, drawing inspiration from travel, exhibitions, her mother’s collection of ferns, and the woods surrounding her studio. You can feel that sense of nature and imagination in the pattern, which is exactly what drew me to it.
That felt like the right starting point for a Jack and Jill bath shared between two rooms. It also connects naturally to the spirit of the bedroom beyond, where classic ideas are interpreted with a lighter touch. Once the wallpaper was in place, the rest of the room came together to support it. Saffron Beata Heuman sconces add a playful punch of color, while the vanity, with its exaggerated feet and curved backsplash, introduces a sense of character and charm.
It’s a room about equilibrium. Pattern and structure. Ornament and restraint. Two perspectives meeting comfortably in the middle.
And it all started with that wallpaper.
