Designing this pied-à-terre in San Francisco’s historic North Beach neighborhood was all about balance — honoring the city’s architectural grit while layering in warmth and comfort. I wanted the space to feel connected to its urban surroundings but also offer a soft landing at the end of the day.

We preserved the architectural character of the apartment — clean lines, high ceilings, and city-facing windows — and paired it with furnishings and wallcoverings that added texture and depth. Think boucle, wool, and suede alongside warm-toned woods and soft lighting. Every piece was chosen to create a sense of intimacy without sacrificing sophistication.

This home may be compact, but it’s rich in feeling — a stylish and soulful retreat in the heart of the city.
